MS Dhoni praises his side after thrashing Australia in the Hyderabad Test ? Cricket News Update
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian skipper, is ecstatic after winning the second Test of the four-match series against Australia at Hyderabad and was all praise for the whole team for dominating the Kangaroos.
Having won the toss on day one of the fixture, Michael Clarke opted to bat first. However, his batsmen failed to live up to the expectations and could only post 237 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets before declaring their innings.
In reply, the home team batted out of their skins and scored a mammoth 503, thanks to a superb second-wicket partnership of 370 runs between Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay. The former scored a fantastic double century; whereas, Vijay scored 167 runs to cement his place in the Test side, which was under the scanner after his failure in the previous match at Chennai.
Having taken a massive lead in the first innings, Indian bowlers came out with all guns blazing in the second innings and dismissed the Kangaroos for merely 131 runs, to seal the fixture by an innings and 135 runs.
While expressing his views in the post-match presentation ceremony, the wicketkeeper/batsman heaped praise for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who picked three crucial wickets in the opening session of the match to help his team dominate. The skipper is delighted with the performance of Vijay and Pujara, who was also named as the Player of the Match.
?It was important to get off to a good start,? Dhoni expressed. ?Bhuvneshwar provided that. You don't see fast bowlers getting too many in these conditions. We often talk about long partnerships. If you get 40-50, you have to score big. That's what Pujara and Vijay did.?
Dhoni is extremely impressed by the performance of his team, especially after a run of poor performances in Test cricket in the previous 18 months.
?Very good bowling performance. It was important to start today's play really well, and Ishant gave us the important breakthrough. I think I have got a very good side. Yes we have gone through a period we haven't won many games. Credit goes to the team and the support staff,? he added.
