A Southwest Airlines plane landed at New York?s La Guardia Airport safely without its front landing gear.
There are no immediate reports of injuries on? Flight 345 , which originated in Nashville, FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford said.
"Southwest Airlines Flight 345, a Boeing 737 arriving at LaGuardia from Nashville, reported possible front landing gear issues before landing," reads a FAA statement emailed to Yahoo! News. "The plane's nose gear collapsed as the aircraft landed on Runway 4 at 5:45 p.m. EDT. The plane safely came to a stop and no injuries were reported. The FAA is investigating."
A spokeswoman with Dallas-based Southwest Airlines said the company is preparing a public statement about the incident and will release it shortly. A statement on the company's website reads:
?Southwest Airlines confirms emergency responders at New York's LaGuardia airport are assisting with an evacuation of flight 345 after the Boeing 737 arrived this evening from Nashville. We will provide further details when available.?
While the airport technically remains open, the FAA said that a ground stop program has been put into effect and that no flights were arriving or departing from the airport while the investigation takes place, as of around 6 p.m. EDT.
It was the latest in a series of unconventional and dangerous landings at airports around the country. In photos posted across social media, the Boeing 737 airplane can be seen resting with its nose on the runway, in which NBC News described as a ?nose gear issue.?
