The station may be permanently manned, as is the International Space Station (ISS) in which China does not participate.

"As we celebrate our success, we also realize that there is still a gap between China and the leading countries in the field of manned space technology," says Zhaoyao. "Much remains to be done for us to live up to the state's and our people's expectation."

China's achievements to date have been impressive, but they put the nation roughly on par with the United States or Soviet Union in the early 1960s. Though Tiangong-1 is permanently in orbit, it is not permanently inhabited and boasts nowhere near the same sophistication or flexibility as the ISS, nor will the planned follow-on station.

The nation's space programme is spurring a regional space competition. Though Japan has traditionally been the largest space power in the region, with heavy participation in the ISS programme and training for human spaceflight, neighboring nations such as South Korea and Indonesia are joining the fray. India, a major geopolitical rival, boasts a similarly ambitious but significantly less developed space programme.

BEIJING (AP) ? China's first female astronaut and two other crew members emerged smiling from a capsule that returned safely to Earth on Friday from a 13-day mission to an orbiting module that is a prototype for a future space station.

The Shenzhou 9 parachuted to a landing on the grasslands of the country's sprawling Inner Mongolia region at about 10 a.m. (0200 GMT). China declared the first manned mission to the Tiangong 1 module ? the space program's longest and most challenging yet ? a major stride ahead for the country's ambitious space program.

About an hour later, mission commander and veteran astronaut Jing Haipeng, 45, emerged from the capsule, followed by crew mates Liu Wang, 43, and 33-year-old Liu Yang, China's first female astronaut.

The three, all experienced air force pilots, were lifted on to folding chairs and appeared in good health. They smiled, waved, chatted and saluted as state television ran live footage from the landing site.

"Tiangong 1, our home in space, was comfortable and pleasant. We're very proud of our nation," Liu Yang told national broadcaster CCTV.

Space program commander, Gen. Chang Wanchuan, declared the astronauts in good health and declared the mission "completely successful."

He was followed by Premier Wen Jiabao, who said the mission marked "absolutely important progress" for the space program.

The mission had included both remote control and piloted dockings with the module and extensive medical monitoring of the astronauts as part of preparations for manning a permanent space station.

China's next goals include another manned mission to the module originally scheduled for later this year but which may be delayed depending on an evaluation of the Shenzhou 9 mission and the condition of the Tiangong 1. China has been extremely cautious and methodical in its manned missions, with more than three years passing since the previous one, and all four have been relatively problem-free.

Chen Shanguang, director for the Chinese Astronaut Research and Training Center, told a news conference that preparations and selection of astronauts were already under way for the Shenzhou 10 mission.

Tiangong 1 is due to be retired in a few years and replaced with a permanent space station around 2020 that will weigh about 60 tons, slightly smaller than NASA's Skylab of the 1970s and about one-sixth the size of the 16-nation International Space Station that China was barred from participating in, largely on objections from the United States. Possible future missions could include sending a rover to the moon, possibly followed by a manned lunar mission.

Launched June 16 from the Jiuquan center on the edge of the Gobi desert in northern China, Shenzhou 9 is the latest success for China's manned space program that launched its first astronaut, Yang Liwei, into space in 2003, making China just the third nation after Russia and the U.S. to achieve that feat. China would also be the third country after the United States and Russia to send independently maintained space stations into orbit.

Earlier in the week, a spokeswoman said China spent 20 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) on its space program between 1992 and 2005 ? a rare admission for a program with close links to the secretive military. By the time the next Shenzhou mission is completed, Beijing will have spent an additional 19 billion yuan ($3 billion), the spokeswoman said.

Wang Zhaoyao, director of China's manned space program office, said the program mirrors the rising global status of China.

"For any country, for any people, a space program is indispensable," Wang said.

In many businesses, employees have issues with their managers. Of course, since opinions differ from one person to the next, this isn?t true for everyone. On the other hand a manager or an executive that has a good reputation for acting ethically will gain the respect of their peers and employees. Sometimes a business can create magic when such people fill all the key roles. That company will enjoy plenty of benefits because of the higher degree of motivation of the employees.

Making poor decisions that are not ethnically based can lead you down a dark road of making more and more unethical decisions as time goes on. A great example is to consider the ethical behavior that young children may have based upon the choices that they make.

Once they think they can get away with something, then they keep doing it. This will expand into other bad behaviors and poor decision-making as time goes on. Comparatively speaking, the courts act as the parents of the businesses that need to stop doing the unethical behaviors.

Mixed Case: Meet our New Expert ? Jung Kim of Piermont Fine Wine

There are only a few hundred bottles available at Piermont Fine Wine & Spirits. But of those that are? Owner Jung Kim knows every single one like an old friend.

?I only sell what I really like to drink,? he says. ?So everything here has been tasted five or six times over the years; I know exactly what I?m selling.?

That attention to detail is one of the reasons we?ve asked Kim to be our wine expert-in-residence for the next three months. For the next 12 Wednesdays in Life&Style, he?ll choose our LoHud Wine of the Week, and include tasting notes and suggestions for pairings. (His first recommendation, Ameztoi Rubentis Txakolina Rosado 2011, a ros? from Spain, is here.) At the end of the 12 weeks, we?ll review our Mixed Case, and recap the choices assembled by Kim. Then we?ll introduce a new expert.

Should we need a suggestion for pairing wines, such as for a July Fourth barbecue, we?ll turn to him. And when we do, it?s likely he?ll choose a wine from a small production, family-owned vineyard, usually from Europe. Those Old World wines are what he focuses on at his shop, a 400-square-foot cozy little nook in Piermont. The shop gets its neighborhood feel from its wooden wine shelves; a massive, custom-made desk that serves as his checkout area; and, in the big storefront window, a comfy little bench and table with stacks of newspapers to peruse.

Kim also zeros in on value. He?s is the kind of owner who will steer you toward a less expensive bottle, even if you?d already made up your mind to spend more.

?It?s very important for me to find great values,? he says. ?A lot of wines that are between $12 and $20 are as good as wines that are $50 and above.?

As our Mixed Case unfolds over the summer, you?ll see a lot of whites and ros?s, many of which are some of his all-time favorites. ?You can?t go wrong with any of these wines.?

Jung didn?t start out as a wine geek; he was a math geek, studying engineering. But he started taking classes at the International Wine Center in Manhattan and he sort of fell into the business. Now he prefers to engineer a good wine pairing for his customer?s dinners.

And he has one more passion, too: music. You?ll always hear something on the stereo ? classical, jazz and opera, mostly ? when you step in to the store.

?Wine is great, but music is something I just live for,? he says. ?That?s why I?m always playing music pretty loud.?

So along with a bottle of wine, you might take home a suggestion for some music to match, too. And you never know what either might be.

?It doesn?t matter if it?s cider from Spain or ros? form Northern Italy,? he says. ?If it?s got a lot of character, if it?s balanced, lots of flavor, that?s good enough for me.?

[Insert distasteful joke here regarding Windows Phone 7 lack of upgrade path to WinPhone 8] Athens saw daylight a little earlier than normal today. At approximately 4:45 AM local time, arsonists rammed a van laden with gas cans into the front of Microsoft's Greek HQ and set it ablaze. According to a Reuters' report, the security guards were held at gunpoint, but also away from the fire. No one was injured in the attack.

sexuality empowerment - How Do I Get More Confidence?

I have been teaching sexuality for so long and over the years when I ask people--women in particular--what they think they need in order to feel sexually empowered, without reservation, the number one answer I get the most is "I want more confidence" or "I want more sexual confidence." My conclusion? Most people want more confidence!

Coming from a place of insecurity, which is the opposite of confidence, doesn't feel good and usually does not get you what you want.

It's very hard, if not impossible, to create the relationships of your dreams from a place of insecurity. Without a healthy dose of confidence, you have a really hard time standing up for yourself or asking for what you need in your relationships, and sometimes you get walked all over because of it. Not fun.

It's hard to build a really successful business or career from a place of insecurity. If you are feeling frustrated because your career feels stagnant or you are playing small and not taking steps to do the work you feel you are here to do in the world the way to change it is to have the confidence to do it. It's so painful to watch how people play small and keep themselves from having their dreams.

It's hard to ask for the money you deserve from a place of insecurity. Maybe you want a raise, or you want to raise your prices if you have your own business and you lack the confidence to ask for what you know you are worth.

It's definitely hard to get the sex and the sexual satisfaction you want and deserve from a place of insecurity. You might be feeling sexually frustrated, not having orgasms, not feeling like you get as much from sex as your partners, or feel stuck in not being able to ask for what you need sexually and so you aren't getting it. I find that many people who are powerful in other areas of their lives, (particularly women) just lack the ability to get their needs met in the bedroom and often feel really small and dissatisfied there.

Confidence is often talked about like it's a pill you can take, or like it's something you acquire in one big shot and you are good. But it's not. It's something you have to work at. It's a process to develop confidence.

This is why I began to look at people's confidence and scrutinize how their confidence operates . . . I know from all my years of work that there are patterns around people's ways of expressing and using their confidence and I've learned a few things about what makes people tick, what their needs and fears are, and what will help them get to the next level in their life, love, work and play.

I developed the 5 Confidence Types? out of my work with people. You may have a clear dominant type or you might be a combination of types. Most people do have a dominant type that is your home base right now--your default or the place you are most comfortable, or uncomfortably comfortable. You can learn skills to help you bring more of the energy of some of the other types into your repertoire if you want that, and you can also work on understanding how your type operates so you know what to work on enhancing and what to be careful of.

I want you to find out what your Confidence Type? is! This is not a one-size fits all operation. We don't all operate with the same brand of confidence. We have varying strengths and vulnerabilities and I want to help you define where you are now and how to move your confidence to the place where you want to go. I am so excited about helping people build their confidence. I know how important the element of confidence is in your being able to create the relationships, professional success, and sexual life you want.
