Stocks plummet as outlook in Europe dims

Traders fearful of a rupture in Europe's financial system retreated Wednesday from risky investments. They punished stocks and fled to the safety of U.S. bonds, pushing the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note to a record low.

Major U.S. stock indexes fell more than 1 percent. European stocks fell even more, and the euro dropped to a nearly two-year low against the dollar. Borrowing rates for Italy and Spain, both of which are seen as the next problem cases in Europe's debt drama, rose sharply as traders dumped bonds issued by those governments.

Rising demand for low-risk, easily tradable securities pushed the yield on the 10-year Treasury note to 1.64 percent from 1.74 percent late Tuesday. German government bond yields, also seen as safe, turned lower.

The Dow Jones industrial average plunged 147 points to 12,433. The Dow has had a miserable May. It's down 5.9 percent for the month, putting it on track this week to end its first losing month since September.

Concerns about Europe seemed to lurk around every corner: the European Commission said consumer confidence fell sharply in the region last month. Spaniards withdrew money from their banks, spreading fear about that nation's ability to go on without bailouts. Spain's main stock index fell two percent.

An opinion poll in Greece showed that the far-left Syriza party is gaining support ahead of key elections. Syriza opposes the system of bailouts and sharp budget cuts that have kept Greece afloat but also punished its economy. If the party wins, Greece may be forced to exit the euro currency. The shockwaves could topple nations that have received bailouts, like Portugal, and those that might need them, like Italy.

Amid the tumult, Europe's executive branch called on the 17 nations that use the currency to create a "banking union" that can centrally oversee and ? if needed ? bail out the sector.

If Europe's financial crisis plunges it into a deep recession, global economic growth will likely falter, reducing demand for commodities and machines that power growth. Fearing that outcome, traders pushed heavy equipment maker Caterpillar and aluminum company Alcoa to the biggest declines among the 30 companies that make up the Dow.

The euro fell as low as $1.2387, the lowest since the summer of 2010. Benchmark stock indexes plunged 2.7 percent in Spain, 2.2 percent in Italy and 2.4 percent in France.

In other U.S. trading, the Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 17 to 1,315. The Nasdaq composite average slid 37 to 2,833.

Metals, food and energy commodities all fell sharply. Crude oil lost nearly $3 to $88 a barrel, a large move. Crude has been falling steadily since the beginning of May, when it traded as high as $106 a barrel.

Spain's borrowing costs soared to the highest level since the country joined the euro. Traders are worried that Spain won't be able to navigate the real estate crash that forced it to bail out one of its biggest lenders, Bankia.

The yield on Spain's 10-year bonds, a key indicator of market confidence in a country's ability to pay down its debt, shot as high as 6.69 percent, matching the level it hit at the height of the euro crisis late last year.

Agricultural giant Monsanto was one of the few big gainers in a sea of red. The stock jumped 3 percent after the company's CEO told investors that earnings will likely surge 25 percent this year, far more than Wall Street had been expecting. Sales were strong in its seed and chemicals business, including Roundup herbicides.

BlackBerry maker Research in Motion plunged 10 percent to $10 after the company said late Tuesday it had hired a team of bankers to help it weigh its options ? Wall Street jargon for a possible sale or reorganization. RIM's business has been crumbling as smartphone users move to iPhone and Android devices.

Full Marriage Equality: Supporting Gay Marriage, Opposing ...

Some people support the rights of (some) gay and lesbian couples to enter into legally monogamous marriages, but oppose relationship rights for the polyamorous, or the polygamous freedom to marry. Or, they oppose relationship rights or the freedom to marry for those in consanguineous relationships.

This should not be surprising, given human history. Some people did and do fight discrimination against women, but are fine with discrimination against racial minorities. Or they have fought discrimination against racial minorities but support discrimination against women, or discrimination against LGBT people, or people with disabilities... on and on it goes. Some people have different biases and prejudices, or a group they treat like a punching bag while supporting another group that is being discriminated against. Some people have no hesitation in turning around and using the same arguments in denying rights to others that were used to deny rights to them.

Unfortunately, bigotry and prejudice are sometimes enshrined in law, and laws can be arbitrary... some country or division thereof might pass a law limiting marriages to Saturdays in June, if that is what the people in power want. So laws have allowed interracial marriage, but banned marriage for gay couples and lesbian couples, or have allowed gay couples to marry, but banned polygamous marriages. In some countries, polygyny is accepted, but gays and lesbians can?t even come out of the closet. In the US, some states allow (mostly heterosexual, so far) first cousins to marry, but some states don't, and virtually none allow any relatives closer than that to marry.

When someone asks, ?Is it bigotry to advocate gay marriage, but oppose polyamory?? The answer is: yes, it is. It is one thing, and a valid one, to explain that gay or lesbian monogamy is not the same thing as any version of polyamory. It is another thing, and bigotry at that, to throw polyamorous people under the bus; that one is not polyamorous does not mean it is okay to stand by while the polyamorous are discriminated against, and it certainly isn?t okay to join in and denounce polyamory as a legitimate sphere of relationships.

?I?m not polyamorous.?
?I think polyamory is disgusting.?
?Polymory goes against tradition.?
?My religion is against it.?
?It?s not natural.?
?It hurts children.?
?It hurts women.?
?It is abusive.?
?It spreads STIs.?
?What?s next??
?Our laws are set up for monogamy.?

Those are essentially same arguments that were used against allowing monogamous gays and lesbians to marry.

The homophobes, against all gay or lesbian relationships, tout statistics of substance abuse, domestic violence, and the like. But shouldn?t we expect problems like that in a group that has largely been rejected (even by their own family,) systematically discriminated against, even prosecuted for being who they are and loving other adults? Likewise, the negative indicators cited against polygamy as correlating are not caused by polygamy. They can be attributed to the overall subculture which was studied (frontier 19th century US under patriarchal monolithic church, isolated patriarchal theocracies, Arabian and African misogynistic patriarchies, etc.) With gender equality, domestic violence protections, and the freedoms to not marry and to divorce, allowing an adult, regardless of religion, gender, or sexual orientation, their rights to share love, sex, residence, and marriage with any consenting adults will help women, some of whom will choose to marry two or more other women. It will also help children, whose parents will be able to legally cohabitate and marry if that is what they want. It will also help men, too. Legalization will make it more likely that abusers will be caught, because victims and witnesses will not have to fear self-incrimination by informing law enforcement.

This debate has recently been seen in Australia. In Australia, is it not legal to have a different sex partner (or two or more) every night and to have children with multiple different people? But it isn?t legal to marry or be married more than one other person at the same time? What kind of sense is that?

Yes, it is possible for the laws to include gay and lesbian couples in marriage, but not polyamorous relationships (or consanguinamorous relationships.) But that is arbitrary. What is consistent? What is fair? What is justice? What is loving? What is equality? Equality just for some is not equality. Full marriage equality means an adult is free to marry any consenting adults. It doesn?t mean anyone else has to do anything they don?t want. It simply means not treating some adults as second class citizens based on their sexual orientation or which other adults they love.

Do we take the concept of consenting adults seriously or not? Why do we allow a woman to go to war at age 18, operate heavy machinery, vote, and do so many other things, but we don?t allow her to marry another woman? Or marry a man who is already married, even though all are informed and consenting?

These relationships exist, and always have. Some of them are lasting, loving, beautiful relationships. Some people in these relationships are raising children together. Many of these people are good citizens and neighbors. Why deny any of them marriage, if they want it?

While many gay and lesbian relationships are monogamous, most polyamorous relationships include at least one person who can be considered LGBT. Even in strictly heterosexual ?V? relationships (M-F-M or F-M-F), the two people of the same gender, even if they are never together, have what is called a metamour relationship. So the rights of polyamorous people should be considered part of the overall ?queer? or LGBT civil rights issue.

Stand up for everyone?s right to marry, not just your right to marry or your friend?s right to marry. Whether someone is monogamous or polyamorous, or gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, queer, or whatever, everyone should have the freedom to marry and everyone should stand up for full marriage equality.

HUFFPOST HILL - All That For This: Romney To Win GOP Nomination

Mitt Romney will likely secure the Republican nomination today, which is why he's suddenly moved to the center and is campaigning with moderate Donald Trump. If you change lanes on the Beltway without signaling, be careful: Bob McDonnell wants to blow you up with an unmanned drone. And an electric cigarette company is publicly imploring John Boehner to curb his tobacco consumption, meaning a press release from a low-alcohol Merlot producer can't be far off. This is HUFFPOST HILL for Tuesday, May 29th, 2012:

TEXAS PRIMARY PREVIEW - Although it's mostly being framed as "the one where Mitt Romney secures the nomination," there's still some suspense to today's vote. Lucia Graves: "The Republican Senate primary race to fill the seat left open by retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison has been framed as Republican establishment versus Tea Party, but it may simply be a test of how conservative Texas Republicans have become. Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst has endorsements from prominent conservatives like Rick Perry and Mike Huckabee, while his opponent, former Solicitor General Ted Cruz, has received nods from such national Tea Party figures as Sarah Palin and Jim Demint. A third candidate, former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, while clearly the underdog, could garner enough votes to prevent Dewhurst from receiving the 50 percent necessary to win the Texas Republican party nomination outright on Tuesday. Should he fail, Dewhurst will be forced into a run-off election on July 31." [HuffPost]

ROMNEY ATTENDING DONALD TRUMP FUNDRAISER - The best part is imagining all the awkward things Romney might say when confronted with Trump's conspicuous consumption ("This 20-foot high oil portrait of you and that cheetah smells great!" "This appetizer of gold-dipped lobster and caviar reminds me of baseball!" "This platinum toilet... wow!"). Jon Ward: "'He doesn't want to talk about it.' Or so said Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's spokesman, on the question of where President Obama was born. Cohen, in a phone interview, called the renewed controversy over Trump's questioning of whether Obama was born in the U.S. 'a distraction,' and blamed it on 'the liberal media.' But five minutes after The Huffington Post talked to Cohen on the phone, a call to Trump's New York offices resulted in the casino, real-estate and reality-TV mogul being patched through on the line, from here in Las Vegas. Adding to the surreal nature of the day, Trump openly disagreed with his own spokesman's assessment. 'I don't imagine this is distraction at all,' Trump said. 'In fact, we have a fundraiser that's going to take place in a couple of hours, and I'm just walking through the lobby of Trump international and this place is packed.'" [HuffPost]

@hollybdc: And here's Romney exiting next to the Trump plane (Las Vegas NV) instagr.am/p/LOMPqdIDjL/

Oh, and this: "Hours before hosting a fundraiser for Mitt Romney in Las Vegas, Donald Trump said Tuesday he's renewing questions about whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S. because 'a lot of people agree' with him and it might help Republicans win the White House." [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

Naturally, the Obama campaign is happy about the aforementioned "this": "The campaign's new web video, released on Tuesday and coinciding with a Romney fundraiser featuring Trump at his Las Vegas hotel, highlights Trump's repeated references to President Barack Obama's birthplace and contrasts Romney with previous Republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who is shown in clips from 2008 denouncing supporters' claims questioning Obama's citizenship." [HuffPost's Sabrina Siddiqui]

NLRB SCANDAL VALIDATES LABOR MOVEMENT'S PARANOIA - Dave Jamieson: "Members of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) on Tuesday addressed the recent resignation of their former colleague Terence Flynn, who stepped down over the weekend after investigators found he'd improperly shared agency information with a former adviser to presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. In a joint statement, four members of the five-person labor board said the drama surrounding Flynn, a conservative among a liberal majority, would not 'tarnish' the image of the NLRB, the federal agency tasked with enforcing labor law for businesses and their workers...Pressure had been mounting on Flynn to resign for weeks, ever since an NLRB inspector general report documenting Flynn's leaks became public. According to investigators, Flynn had shared "sensitive" agency information -- including board member's deliberations on pending cases -- with former board members while he was serving as agency counsel last year, prior to his recess appointment to the board." [HuffPost]

IS REP. MICHAEL FITZPATRICK IN THE POCKET OF BIG PIGMENT? - Running in tomorrow's Roll Call from Jonathan Strong: "In early May, Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) introduced 12 bills to suspend importation duties on chemicals like Isoviolanthrone Crude Dry Presscake and 4-Sulfo-1,8-naphthalic anhydride potassium salt. The obscure names and dense bill text, which would amend the 'Harmonized Tariff Schedule,' might leave casual observers perplexed. But according to disclosure forms, eight of the 12 proposals had something in common: they would benefit United Colors Manufacturing, a dyes and pigments firm in Fitzpatrick's district. Thomas Nowakowski, the president of the company, said the 'low six figure' monetary value of the duty suspensions to his company is critical for it to stay competitive with rivals in India, China and Mexico. But Nowakowski and his family have
also been generous campaign donors to Fitzpatrick and the Republican party, giving the Pennsylvania Republican over $26,000 since 2002 and over $150,000 to Republican candidates and party organizations during that same time period."

U.S. NEGOTIATORS GET FIRST AMENDMENT'D - Zach Carter: "For most of last week, the Obama administration worked to block a new global fund to develop drugs for use in poor countries. Then, on Friday, U.S. negotiators suddenly softened their opposition and agreed to a compromise. What happened? HuffPost happened. According to global health advocates at Knowledge Ecology International: 'Stories by Zach Carter in the Huffington Post and Agathe Duparc in Le Monde during the negotiations seemed have to have had an impact on the positions of the US and French delegations.' [KEI]

DAILY DELANEY DOWNER - From our ongoing series PASTED: The Emails of the Jobless: "My husband lost his unemployment benefits two weeks ago (14 weeks earlier than expected)," writes an unemployed Marylander. "He has been searching... and has had some interviews, but no success. He has heard that he is 'over qualified.' I also lost a job in January 2010; found work almost immediately but took a very significant pay cut. We have gone from over $150k per year to $45k in less than three years. I am one federal budget cut away from unemployment myself -- I work for a community action agency and my salary comes from a Community Services Block Grant, which is always up for play. We haven't had health insurance for over a year." [Hang in there!]

ROMNEY NOT ANTAGONIZING CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS - Bloomberg: "[T]he presumed Republican presidential nominee has been able to overcome rifts within his party that might otherwise undermine his chances of winning the White House in November. So far, Romney has harnessed an intense hunger to beat Obama among congressional Republicans willing to paper over their policy differences in pursuit of the presidency...With close message coordination and consultation with lawmakers and their staff on Capitol Hill in twice-daily conference calls and sit-downs with party leaders, Romney and his team are succeeding where past presidential campaigns have sometimes failed to disastrous effect...His political director, Rich Beeson, worked with House Speaker John Boehner's political chief at the Republican National Committee four years ago. Kevin Madden, who is coordinating with the RNC for Romney and was a spokesman for his failed 2008 presidential campaign, is a former aide to Boehner, an Ohio Republican...The links extend to those affiliated with the anti- government Tea Party movement. Romney's campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, not only worked at the RNC with Tim Griffin, now a first-term congressman from Arkansas elected with Tea Party support, he was a member of Griffin's wedding." [Bloomberg]

ROMNEY TARGETS SOLYNDRA... BECAUSE PEOPLE STILL CARE ABOUT THAT - Politico: "Mitt Romney and a super PAC supporting him are giving Solyndra a try on the trail, unveiling ads that wield the $535 million energy loan scandal as a double-whammy: an indictment of big government spending and the answer to Romney's private equity problem. The argument: Solyndra is the best example of President Barack Obama's stimulus at its worst, complete with a cozy donor in deep with a company that got taxpayer money only to file for bankruptcy and lay off 1,100 workers. Forget Romney's record at the private equity firm Bain Capital -- look at Obama's public investment failure." [Politico]

Given the choice between the guy who spent his adolescence hotboxing a VW bus and the guy who committed a hate crime for a laugh, a former classmate of both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney is betting on the former. The Daily: "Sidney Barthwell just might be the only person on the planet who went to school with both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. Friendly with both men long before they entered political life, Barthwell has contributed money to both campaigns and speaks highly of both candidates. But when his two former classmates face off later this year in a series of presidential debates, he doesn't mince words about what he thinks will happen. 'When they debate, Barack will smoke Romney,' Barthwell, a district court magistrate in Michigan who attended boarding school with Romney and Harvard Law School with Obama, told The Daily." THAD MCCOTTER'S CAMPAIGN IS SO ROCK & ROLL HE'S NOT EVEN ON THE BALLOT - It's like, Imma make music, man, but I don't care if you hear it. Rawk. Luke Johnson: "U.S. Rep. Thad McCotter (R-Mich.) announced Tuesday that he will run a write-in campaign for reelection to his seat, agreeing with Michigan's secretary of state's office that the number of valid signatures on his submitted petitions were insufficient to qualify for the ballot... His campaign submitted 2,000 signatures but his state's Board of Elections reviewed them and determined that fewer than 1,000 -- the number required to get on the ballot -- were valid... 'Yes, a write-in campaign is a difficult hill to climb but, as I am responsible for the hill, I will climb it to the utmost of my ability,' McCotter said." [HuffPost]

Womp womp: "Rep. Thaddeus McCotter turned in 2,000 petition signatures to get on August primary ballot, but >all except 244 have been deemed invalid because of rampant duplicated copies, the Michigan Secretary of State found. A review by The Detroit News of the petition signatures found full copies of a sheet of signatures that were photocopied once and in some cases two times and mixed in with the 136-page stack of signatures. In some cases, a different petition circulator's name was signed to the duplicate copy." [Detroit News]

JERSEY PRIMARY A BOON FOR FANS OF PROXY WARS - John Celock: "The New Jersey primary between Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson) and Rep. Steve Rothman (D-Englewood) in a newly created district has turned bitter as the one-time allies accuse each other of having flawed records and no ties to the district. It also is taking on shades of the Obama/Clinton 2008 presidential primary. Former President Bill Clinton announced on Friday plans to campaign for Pascrell, while President Barack Obama adviser David Axelrod is backing Rothman... The two have also fought for the progressive mantle. Rothman claims Pascrell supports lowering taxes for the rich and opposes a women's right to choose. Pascrell is challenging an ad from Rothman on the tax claim that features Pascrell saying, 'Republicans had great ideas. I liked some of their ideas,' during a 2010 Chris Matthews interview. The quotes were excerpted from a longer quote on health-care reform." [HuffPost]

BOB MCDONNELL WANTS DRONES FLYING OVER VIRGINIA - As opposed to the drones who file in and out of apartment complexes in Clarendon and Court House and into the District every workday. WTOP: "Police drones flying over Virginia would be 'great' and 'the right thing to do' for the same reasons they are so effective in a battlefield environment, the state's chief executive said Tuesday. Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, says he is open to any technology that makes law enforcement more productive. The use of drones, which was recently endorsed by the police chiefs of Fairfax County and D.C., would make better use of valuable police resources. Increased safety and reduced manpower are among the reasons the U.S. military and intelligence community use drones on the battlefield, which is why it should be considered in Virginia, he says." [WTOP]

COMPANY WORRIED ABOUT JOHN BOEHNER'S LUNGS - The Hill: "A Florida-based seller of electronic cigarettes has offered House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) a starter kit for its product, which the company says is aimed at giving Boehner a healthier alternative to regular cigarettes. 'We appreciate all that Boehner does for our country and the economy and we would like for him to enjoy the satisfying feeling of smoking without the harmful side effects of tobacco,' Eversmoke said Tuesday. 'We understand how much pressure is involved in politics, especially being the House Speaker, and it's important to remain healthy in every way possible.' ... But even if he wanted to try the e-cigarette, current House rules on gifts appear to require Boehner to turn down the offer. Monti wants Italian football halted for 2-3 years

By VICTOR SIMPSON

updated 11:22 a.m. ET May 29, 2012

ROME (AP) -Premier Mario Monti suggested Tuesday that Italian football should be suspended for two to three years after the latest match-fixing scandal rocked the national team and tarnished the image of the domestic game yet again just a week before the start of the European Championship.

Dawn raids on Monday resulted in 14 arrests - including Lazio captain Stefano Mauri - to bring the total number of suspects arrested in the match-fixing probe to about 50 since last year. Many more have been placed under investigation.

"Football should be stopped for two to three years," Monti said on Tuesday in a powerful message to Italy's football authorities on the need to clean up the game. "It is not a proposal by the government but a question I am asking as someone who was passionate when football was still football."

Monti made the comments while standing beside the prime minister of Poland, which is co-hosting Euro 2012 with Ukraine starting June 8.

"I'm not making a proposal, and even less is it a proposal that comes from the government, but it's a desire that sometimes I feel inside me: that it would really benefit the maturity of us Italian citizens if this game was completely suspended for two to three years," he said.

He also ruled out the use of public money to bail out football teams in difficulty.

Police swept through the Italian national squad's training camp near Florence on Monday as part of the operation and Italy defender Domenico Criscito was left out of the Euro 2012 squad after he was placed under investigation.

Antonio Conte, who coached Juventus to the Serie A title this term, was also officially notified that he is under investigation for alleged wrongdoing while in charge of Siena in 2010-2011.

Apart from those arrested Monday, three people have been placed under house arrest and two others are to present themselves to authorities. Five of the arrests were made in Hungary.

Numerous others have had their houses searched, including Chievo Verona striker Sergio Pellissier as well as Conte and Criscito.

The investigation was started by judicial authorities in Cremona last year. It has resulted in former Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni being banned from football for three and a half years, and the arrest of former Lazio captain Giuseppe Signori.

Serie A clubs Atalanta, Novara and Siena were among the 22 Italian teams notified at the beginning of this month that they are being investigated by sports authorities.

Prosecutors in Cremona have detailed an extensive match-fixing ring stretching as far as Singapore and South America that was allegedly in operation for more than 10 years.

Italy has only recently recovered from the 2006 match-fixing scandal - known as Calciopoli - that resulted in Juventus being relegated to Serie B for a season, plus points penalties for several other Serie A teams and lengthy bans for club and refereeing officials.

The Italian national team reacted in the best possible way, winning the World Cup later that year.

You can probably bring another $500 to this figure through eradicating avoidable Vendor costs for example sales revenue, advertising, rent and other Dealer overhead stuffs. The wholesale cost is some sort of car?s exchange valuation. To get a consumer, going to a new ?cheapest price? for a car. In my estimation, becoming paid for this kind of price tends to make a vehicle buying- not costly. Therefore , somewhat a bit crude approach is generally to purpose about $2, 000 away from the going retail selling price.

Movie Review: In Time

Lucio Fulchi?s Zombie premiered on 1980. He?s still absolutely nothing much like the Sherlock Holmes authored by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or any other filmic adaptation (save for smoking a pipe). Despite its exceptional cast, the moments of spirited entertainment can?t outweigh the overwhelming strangeness that permeates a show that feels just like a mishmash of leftover pieces from Burton?s finer accomplishments. It set the typical for computer generated films and stretched the limits of what might be presented onscreen. As a large fan of MMA, the proven fact that Gina Carano, a women?s Mixed Fighting Styles pioneer was starring in it absolutely was a hugely enticing.

Unabashed star vehicles, both films are a series of intercut vignettes taking place over the course of one day. People who left from the theatre often expressed the desire to view it again. Johnny has become very tormented as they believes that his powers really are a curse. A single mom named Kim (Sarah Jessica Parker) must find her runaway teenage daughter, Hailey (Abigail Breslin), who desperately desires to possess a New Year?s kiss which has a boy from soccer practice that they likes.

Bollywood trailers may also be used by producers to offer audiences a quick first look with the highlights of the movie. Without it, however, we wouldn?t normally have Carla Gugino, which subsequently means the loss associated with an outtake played during the finish credits. It was the 1940s that saw the initial bursts of creativity along with the 1960s that cemented the movie trailer?s position in the heart of your film?s marketing campaign. Moreau, who can be a part with the Monastic Order of Michael the Warrior Angel, approaches Blaze. ?Man on a Ledge? isn?t likely to win any awards or praise to be the best of anything?it ultimately ends up as a mildly entertaining way to spend a Friday night, but a minimum of you won?t think that flinging yourself off a building.

So the subsequent stage in the best-selling book phenomenon has begun. But its overt adorableness subdues any negativity. The captain in the boat is missing with his fantastic daughter then tries to locate him. He?ll stare at old home videos of his games without really seeing them, and he?ll secretly drive to some spot where he can watch the existing high school team practice.

Movies that have a specific message at the end may have a trailer expounding a similar message too. For example, what precisely was the point of having a huge name star like Kyra Sedgewick play a smaller obnoxious role of t. It?s never established just what Angelique is effective at (concerning her sorcery), nor from what extent Barnabas is immortal or vampiric (he avoids the sun, but what else?). But in love with? Not a chance.

The ending is of your twist ending and is something which is unexpected. Everything through the visual effects that are actually utilized to bring the flaming skull your tend to be more refined and slicker. This movie isn?t simply a must see, but a necessity buy. ? ?Trust me. Hopefully after looking over this movie review, you will likely be one of many hundreds which can be expecting February 17, 2012. watch movies

Use the 60/30/10 rule when decorating a room. This simply means that 60% of the room should be the primary color with 30% of the room being your secondary color and the remaining 10% should be your accent color. In practice, utilize the primary color for the walls, and the upholstery should feature the secondary color with the last 10 percent being used as an accent.

For safety, install peepholes in any exterior doors. You should know who is at your door before you open it! Installing a peephole is affordable and can be done quickly. You just need a drill and an hour or so out of your day. It is well worth it, especially because a peephole can give you a greater peace of mind.

The windows in your home are important when dealing with home improvement. Spend the money to replace them! Double-glazed windows are a must. Hidden Mind Patterns Limiting Achievement: Fear of Failure, Fear of ...

Hidden Mind Patterns Limiting Achievement: Fear of Failure, Fear of Success

Alina Constantin ? Lightman Consulting

Modern Tokyo Times

Success can take (www.lightman-consulting.com)?many shapes and can be defined in many ways but one thing is for sure: it is one of the most popular concepts of the 21st Century and it?s the ideal of every person regardless age, gender, culture or religious orientation.

Success is the ultimate goal that keeps many entrepreneurs focused nonstop on their businesses, looking for ways to accelerate their achievements and success. Every entrepreneur, organization leader, manager or employee has a different perception of success. For this reason, they engage differently in their relationship with success, according to their own perception of themselves and their perception of the skills necessary to accomplish their goals.? This is the main reason why some people can manage success better than others.

?I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear? ? Nelson Mandela

There are many examples of people who received an unexpected promotion but because they believed they don?t have the right skills for the job, most of the time they felt under constant pressure. They consumed a lot of time and energy worrying about all the things they couldn?t properly do because they believed they don?t have the right abilities and eventually ended up being less productive than they were expected to be. This constant internal pressure and stress turned into failure. What they actually did was to align the way they saw themselves and their abilities with the reality that resulted, thus accomplishing what is also known as self-fulfilled prophecy.

?We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear? ? Martin Luther King, Jr.

The low, medium or high level of people?s achievement speaks not only about their skills required for a particular task but also about their ability to understand and control their thinking and behavior. Dr. Jack Plaks, a social psychologist at the University of Toronto observed that generally, people believe about themselves that they know themselves well enough to be able to predict their own outcomes. However, if the outcome is unexpected, it becomes a source of high anxiety. If the unexpected outcome is negative, the anxiety produced is going to contribute to the effort of restoring the sense of mental prediction, as it was prior to the outcome. But when it comes to unexpected success, the various research into this area have discovered that people react differently in order to fulfill their perception of self and of their abilities. As results of his research, Dr. Plaks discovered that some people believe about their abilities that they are fixed and can?t change with learning (the level of intelligence in particular) and others understood that their skills are malleable and can be improved through learning. Students that participated in the research had been given a test and afterwards they have all been provided with a training program to help them understand the tasks they weren?t able to solve. Then, everybody took the same test again. Dr. Plaks discovered that even if everybody took part in the same learning session, the students with steadfast beliefs and perspective reported higher anxiety, performed worse and couldn?t handle success because it went against their established views.

?Fear has its use but cowardice has none? ? Mahatma Gandhi

In the workplace, flexible people are more likely to try new things, to allow their creativity to soar and to think in terms of solutions rather than personal limitations. Managers can increase their employees potential and implicitly the value that they bring to the organization. Rather than labeling the employee and putting them into their respective boxes and implying that this is what they can only do and this is the limit of their abilities, managers can create an atmosphere in which people are encouraged to try new things without the fear of failure.

The need of constantly being in control and always being able to predict outcomes has a very strong bond with the fear of failure. Fear of failure is the number one enemy of ambitious ideas and great achievements. If people are afraid of trying new things to avoid the feeling of failure or they believe they don?t deserve their achievements and success, in both cases they will find themselves in a place where anxiety and frustration takes the place of joy and enthusiasm. We all feel ?the fear,? some of us choose not to listen to it and do things anyway.

?Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear? ? Mark Twain

Success comes from within. Entrepreneurs, leaders and employees have the power to choose to see themselves as the owners of unlimited rough potential. This potential can take various shapes through continuous learning and exposure to new experiences that always are a powerful source of growth and improvement. Remember that information is not power, information is potential power and only through continuous action it turns into positive results.

Simple Home Improvement Suggestions That Can Improve - TrueOld

Right before wondering on the subject of any small remodels first use the expertise of companies for instance: see more, to be sure your work will not get wasted after simply by a poor water pipes! Home improvement projects should focus upon safety above everything else, especially if you have family at home. Anyone that has ever had a fire in their home more than likely had it start due to an electrical malfunction.

The best way to determine if there is an electrical fire is to feel the wall to see if it is warm. Most fires have smoke which you can smell pretty much right away. An overly warm electrical cord is always a sure sign that too much current is flowing. In this article, we will discuss easy to do home improvement projects that are focused on electrical safety for you or your family.

The primary concern that you should have, especially if you have gutters, is to make sure that the water flow freely. If you live in an area where there are a lot of these during the autumn season, you know what we are talking about. Never allow the leaves to accumulate in the gutter so that this problem never arises. As long as the water can flow, everything is okay. It is possible that your gutters, once clogged, will actually allow the water to overflow onto your house. It is possible to flood your basement if your gutter is not clear due to the leaf blockage.

Buss fuses are in many old houses today. Perhaps you have some. Electrical wiring now uses circuit breakers, not fuses, in modern homes today. If your electric panel still has fuses inside, there is no need to change them. It is your option, but you might want to consider modern circuit breaker panels instead. The best way to do this is hire a trained electrician to take care of this for you as this can become very technical. Having the adequate current rating for your home is important. This is why you need to hire a trained electrician to get the job done right.

We all know that prices keep rising, especially the cost of energy. Looking ahead is made somewhat easier when you know what to expect, and that happens with things that the price is known to never go down. You will need to find ways to conserve energy by being more efficient, since you know the costs are rising. Take your refrigerator for example, there are coils in the back of it that have to receive adequate ventilation. What you can do is make sure you do not restrict the normal flow of air. Excessive buildup of dust on the coils will also lower your refrigerator?s efficiency.

Some home improvement ideas and suggestions are more popular than others. You need to learn on your own what things you want improved for your home. With a little learning, you will find that many of the things needing to be done, can be done by you. You are not required to know everything about home improvement for these small jobs. But just remember to leave the serious stuff to the professionals for the sake of safety and a job done right.

The beauty in the details: Idaho?s ?Field of Heroes?

In Pocatello, Idaho, virtually the entire town has been involved in a special Memorial Day celebration. NBC's Mike Taibbi reports.

By Mike Taibbi, NBC News correspondent

POCATELLO, Idaho?--??I was walking past a hard-used SUV when the passenger window rolled down and a?woman?s?crooked finger?emerged, summoning me over to talk.

?See that man over there, in the red cap???she asked.??That?s my husband.? He started all this???

?All this.? As I let my vision follow hers,?I saw?a vista beneath a morning drizzle of more than 6,000 simple white crosses arranged more or less precisely,?filling the entire soccer field behind?Pocatello?s?Century High?School.? The crosses, seized together by a local Korean War veteran?and then painted, labeled and tapped carefully into the turf by hundreds of volunteers of every age and interest, were?the once-a-year memorial to the fallen in America?s two longest wars, in Iraq and Afghanistan.

?We have right now?6,378?casualties,? said?the man in the cap, who introduced himself as?John Rogers.? ?Each cross has a label, with the name and unit and casualty date?and if we can keep this going we?re not gonna forget them.?

I told him his?wife?Joyce?had?explained his motivation to me:?on the day he came home to San Francisco from?his war,?Vietnam, a ?hippie girl? protester?had met him as he stepped off the ship and let him know for the first time what his welcome home would be like????no matter his two Purple Hearts and three tours fighting for his country.

John?nodded.? ?She come up to me, she stops and holds up her arms like this??? He pantomimed carrying an infant.???And she says, ?Hey, you baby burner!??

So in 2004,?with?the controversial Iraq war a year old and Afghanistan an intensifying warzone following 9/11, he decided to see to it that the veterans fighting and dying in those two conflicts would be treated differently.? He got some fellow veterans to help him find the wood for the crosses and to fabricate simple labels,?and?talked the town into giving him the use of a piece of land. Then he?set up the first ?Field of Heroes.?

It was a simple idea, ?sort of like the Vietnam?Memorial in Washington,? Rogers said.? A gathering place where each name with identifying details would allow loved ones to reclaim moments of personal connection and remembrance, while permitting strangers who just needed to give thanks a gateway to learn what they choose to learn about the heroes who gave their lives so the rest of us can continue to flourish in ours.

That first year, there were fewer than 1,400 crosses.? Now, with well over 6,000, there?s almost no more room for additional crosses on Century High?s field;? but the Iraq War is effectively over, and Afghanistan is winding down.

Mike Taibbi / NBC News

Iraq war veteran Bruce Marley paints the crosses marking fallen comrades at Pocatello, Idaho's 'Field of Heroes.' Each cross includes the soldier's name, rank, unit, and type of casualty.

?If we?re lucky, we won?t need this eventually,? Rodgers said.? ?But look,? he?continued, gesturing.??Now we have people?? veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan???they come here and find the special friend they lost over there???they get down on their knees and pray, in front of their crosses.?

And then there are the loved ones of the fallen:?like Tiffany Petty, whose husband Jerrick?Petty, with two toddlers back home in Pocatello, volunteered to go to Iraq only to be killed three days after landing.? Tiffany spent?several days with the volunteers affixing labels on the crosses of the other war dead, whose service and sacrifice have too often been overlooked by too many.

?I?ve seen that happen, and it just hurts,? she told me.??It hurts your heart, it hurts your soul???we need to remember these people.?? She looked across the broad field,?a?thick coil of labels hanging from one wrist.? ?And we need to remember them not as a group of people, but as?specific?people.?

Prepping for Memorial Day

For a few years now, Pocatello?s ?Field of Heroes? has been too big a job for John Rogers to handle with just a handful of friends.? Now Bannock County is lending a hand, and whole platoons of volunteers plow into a full week of preparatory work so the field will be ready when the long Memorial Day weekend starts.?

Mike Taibbi / NBC News

Pocatello, Idaho's annual memorial, 'Field of Heroes,' honors each of the dead service members who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Scout troops, high school kids,?and?senior citizens pitch in, alongside?strangers?who are?moved to lend a hand. Big tents with generator-fired heaters?warm?the volunteers;?the local Sign-A-Rama shop makes?and donatesthe waterproof labels;?and professional surveyors measure?the field and line?up the rows so the matrix of crosses looks the way it should.? In the middle of the Snake River Plain, in the shadow of the foothills of the Rockies, more than a full brigade of the honored dead?appear?in silent and precise formation.

The visitors come from all over the?West, bonding?over?a patriotism that?s as humbling as it is palpable,?and?understanding each other?s tears.??In fact, there?s nothing like it anywhere in the country, though the feelings generated by a visit to this Pocatello yearly shrine are like those?that arise from?a famous national shrine:

?Arlington Cemetery is a long way from here,? said?Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad.? ?There?s a special spirit there???but you come here, you can feel that same spirit.?

?It?s immense now,? Rogers said, a touch of wistfulness in his voice as he surveyed?what his simple idea had turned into.? ?But it?s not just a field of crosses?you can come out and read each name?the dates, the places they died?and if you want you can learn their stories.

?It?s important, that we don?t forget the young people we?ve sent to war.?

The old soldier smiled.? ?Oh yeah,? he said, pointing to the flags stretched by the breeze on the periphery of the field. Each flag?was?accompanied by a yellow streamer.? ?I still make the printed yellow ribbons for every local soldier coming home.? I?ll keep doing that.?
