May 14th, 2012 at 2:00 pm | by?Kendra Beltran

Whether it?s a family game night or your 25th birthday party, board games are there to shield you from boredom. Everyone has a favorite one they?d take to a desert island to pass the time and at the same time everyone can name one that?s more like a daunting task to get through?Monopoly anyone? So with the Blockbuster?Okay, okay, with the lukewarm Battleship opening next week, we have our own picks of some childhood favorites we would bring to life on the big screen.

Life
Starring: Paul Rudd
?We?re born, we live, we die?If we do it right?

This comedy follows a common man throughout his so called ?mundane? life and all the things it incorporates; marriage, kids, buying a home and career. Things seem simple enough, but just like in the game, every turn brings about a new outcome. So every time our Average Joe takes a different way home, things turn out a bit different. Will he ever know which life he?s supposed to have?

Monopoly
Starring:?Leonardo DiCaprio?and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek)
?Do Not Pass Go?

This Great Depression era story is set in New York and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a well-off business man who is thrown off course when he goes bankrupt and has to learn how to deal with being ?normal? from an ex-factory worker of his (Yelchin). The unlikely pair set out to rebuild DiCaprio?s empire and name, but face the hardships of spite and jealousy along the way.

Don?t Wake Daddy
Starring: Chloe Grace Moretz and Greg Kinnear
?Sshh, daddy?s sleeping down the hall?

Chloe does what she does best, bad attitude youth in this flick starring her and Greg Kinnear as her business-minded father. Chloe is stuck in that phase of youth where nothing her parental says can ever make sense and it?s the opposite of what she wants to hear. Stay in? She goes out. Study? She fails on purpose. When daddy dearest gets fed up with her antics and thinks he deadbolts her in, she finds a way out.

Candyland
Starring: Judy King (Crazy, Stupid, Love) and Bailee Madison (Just Go With It)
?Sweet Adventure!?

This vibrant tale is literally taken from the board when a pair of BFFs transport into the Candyland game during a sleepover. From the boring plum world to the creepy land of Lord Licorice all the way to King Kandy himself. The movie follows the girls on their adventures and misadventures through a dreamland made of the sweetest tastes on Earth, candy!

Clue (remake)
Starring: Anna Faris, Neil Patrick Harris, Jack Black, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter
?It?s all suspect?

Cult classic Clue gets revamped as Tim Burton takes on another remake. His style adds a hint of insanity to this revisited ?who done it? movie. Plot twists galore are in store for audiences, as they try to figure out which one of the comical characters killed the party.

Chutes and Ladders
Starring: Michael Cera
?Everyone has their ups and downs?

1pm wake up times and daytime TV is all Michael Cera has to look forward to after he graduates from college and is left to face the ?real world.? One day he has a job interview and the next he?s trying to get over a hangover from his high school neighbor?s raging party. Just when you think he?s catching a break, everything goes wrong.

Sorry!
Starring: Miley Cyrus, Ellen Page and Mae Whitman
?Best Friends?Right??

Three girls who?ve been inseparable since the 4th grade start to grow apart when they hit adulthood. Miley is the party girl (no surprise there), Ellen is the artist and Mae is the career-driven one. Even though they?re not all the same, one thing?s for sure, Mae and Ellen are sick and tired of Miley getting through life on a whim and her good looks, so when they plot to take some drastic measures to rid their lives of her, all they can say is sorry!
