What?s up Green Real Estate Investors and welcome back to the Greenhabbing 101 blog.? Here are some of the Biggest Misconceptions about Green Homes!

There are a number of misconceptions that have been thrown around by different quarters in relation to green homes and their suitability in the current scheme of things in the real estate market.? Some of these notions are born more out of lack of knowledge that actual facts, while some are only the result of misinformation.

For instance, there has been a common misconception that green homes are generally more expensive to maintain than their counterparts.? To start with, it is important to note that there are different materials that can be used in the construction of green homes.? For instance, you can use recycled bottled or reused sheep fleece as insulation.? These insulation materials are generally much cheaper than their counterparts.

In some cases, home owners shy away from the use of green homes due to weather concerns, especially in the case of using solar energy.? This misconception is often the case when winter sets in.? However, the current technology used in the manufacture of solar panels allows the solar panels to harness even the weak light rays of the winter sun.? This makes the panels handy in not only heating the household, but also in supplying other lighting and heating needs of the home.

Another common misconception that affects green homes is that wind turbines only work on hilltops.? The most common location for wind turbines are the hilltops since it is thought that the wind is strongest at these points.? However, this does not necessarily mean that the wind turbines cannot be located in other parts of the country.? While an area with numerous real estate construction works may not be ideal, they can still be used effectively.

There is also a major misconception that most of the eco-friendly homes or the green homes usually take very long to repay the cost of the construction.? While the initial cost of the installation may take a small amount of time to pay itself in terms of bills, what most people do no consider is the additional value that such installations add to the home.? As such, most people view these installations as investments instead of looking at them as additional value to the piece of real estate.? This is supported by the fact that in most cases, the value of the green homes is generally higher than that of their counterparts.
